Background

Production and development

After JSTV has greenlit for its first local counterpart of I Can See Your Voice,[2] Workpoint Entertainment followed suit by commencing its development in January 2016.[1] According to an interview with CJ ENM format sales director Diane Min in May 2021, she mentioned Thailand as the first country to formally air its local counterpart.[3]

Naming

For the show's fifth anniversary and its subsequent season, it was subtitled as I Can See Your Voice Festival because of its monicker that applies on a random-specific theme, affecting the cast and mystery singers.[4] For the sixth season, it was subtitled as I Can See Your Voice T-pop that actually features guest artists relating to the Thai pop music itself.[5][6]

Filming

Tapings for the programme took place at the Workpoint Studio in Bang Phun, Mueang, Pathum Thani.[3] In the fourth season, Bigo Live also co-produced the premiere episode.[7]

Since from third to fourth season, the programme was filmed under health and safety protocols due to the COVID-19 pandemic. For the sixth season, "fan clubs" of their respective guest artists as spectators are allowed.[8]

Broadcast history

I Can See Your Voice Thailand debuted on 13 January 2016. The second season immediately began on 16 August 2017, one week after the first season finale.[9][lower-alpha 1] In collaboration with Bigo Live, Trinity played in the fourth season premiere on 4 November 2020.[12][13] For the show's fifth anniversary, a subsequent season (subtitled as I Can See Your Voice Festival) premiered on 13 October 2021[4][14] until the finale on 23 February 2022, formally concluding the six-year continuous broadcasts with 303 consecutive weekly episodes.[15][16]

After one year and three months of hiatus, the show made its return with its sixth season (subtitled as I Can See Your Voice T-pop),[5][6] premiering on 5 July 2023.[17][18]

Special episodes and companion events

The first two seasons of the show was preempted during its month-long mourning period for the death of King of Thailand Bhumibol Adulyadej,[19] which would later follow by the airing of Memorial Showcase special.[20] Other highlight specials that have occasionally conducted are New Year's Countdown Showcase[21] and (the season-based) Summer, Rainy and Winter Showcases.[22]

Following the fourth season premiere, Bigo Live conducted a companion event titled I Can See My Voice,[13] in which the highest-voting mystery singer would allow to perform a duet alongside one of the guest artists.[7]

Cast

The series has a panel of celebrities who assist the guest artist(s) to decipher mystery singers' identities throughout the game. Alongside with mainstays, guest panelists also appear since the first season. Overall, 13 different members have been assigned, with the original lineup being Neung Jakkawal, Maneenuch Smerasut, and Thanawat Prasitsomporn.[23]

Beside them, subsequent members joining on that lineup also include Techin Ploypetch, Darunee Sutiphitak (from second season); Chaleumpol Tikumpornteerawong, Nilubon Amonwitthawat, Nachat Janthapan, Kapol Thongplub (from third season); Panupan Jantanawong, Mongkol Sa-ardboonyaphat (from fourth season); Nalin Hohler, and Warawut Poyim (from sixth season).
