Background

Mayor Aldrin San Pedro ran for re-election for second term.[1] He faced off his predecessor, former Mayor Jaime "Jimmy" Fresnedi, and independent candidate Oscar Mamerto. Fresnedi was picked by the Liberal Party while San Pedro was chosen by the Lakas–CMD. [2]

Vice Mayor Artemio "Temy" Simundac ran for re-election. He faced Second District Councilor Marissa Rongavilla, Fresnedi's running mate.

Rep. Rozzano Rufino "Ruffy" Biazon was term-limited, switching seats with his father, former Representative and outgoing Senator Rodolfo "Pong" Biazon. Biazon faced off candidates broadcaster and former Press Secretary Ricardo "Dong" Puno Jr., First District Councilor Ermie Espeleta, Second District Councilor Rey Bulay, Rafael Burgos, Rodolfo Viloria, and Herminio Sorilla.
