Local elections were held in San Juan on May 10, 2010, within the Philippine general election. The voters elected for the elective local posts in the city: the mayor, vice mayor, the congressman, and the councilors, six of them in the two districts of the city.

Background

Few months after the 2007 local elections, former President Joseph Estrada, who once served the city as mayor from 1969 to 1986 before serving the senate said in a telephone interview that he supports Guia Gomez, mother of one of his children, Mayor Joseph Victor "JV" Ejercito. He said that there will be no conflict if Gomez run for mayor.[1]

Mayor Joseph Victor "JV" Ejercito was term-limited.[2] He ran as representative instead.[3] His mother, former actress Guia Gomez ran for his place instead. Gomez faced Manuel Andrada of Lakas–CMD, and independent candidates Alton Glenn Angeles, Chito Tamayo, and Eduardo "Doy" San Pascual.

Vice Mayor Leonardo "Boy" Celles was term-limited too. His party chosen Second District Councilor Francisco Javier "Francis" Zamora, son of former Rep. Ronaldo "Ronny" Zamora, to run in his place. Zamora was challenged by Alex Enriquez.

Rep. Ronaldo "Ronny" Zamora was term-limited too. His party chosen Mayor Joseph Victor "JV" Ejercito to run in his place, unopposed.[4]
